What is your favorite place?

My favorite place on earth is Maine. I spent time exploring the coast of Maine for three summers while in college. I love being on the water, hiking, sailing, and spending time in the sun.

If you weren’t a mental health professional, what would you be doing?

A professional cat petter, if that could be a profession!

What do you do for self-care/self-love?

I spend a lot of quality time with loved ones, which is the most important to me. No one makes me
laugh as much as my family does! I also spend time outside, reading, coloring, making jewelry,
cooking, and trying new restaurants.

What is your favorite quote?

“The world can give you so much pain, and here you are making gold of it. There is nothing purer than that”. Rupi Kaur

As a child, What did you want to be when you grew up?

A veterinarian! I love animals, they make me feel at peace.

Who is your ideal client?

A client who is open to trying new things and is motivated to learn and grow. I love working with clients of all ages.

Why do you like being a therapist?

I enjoy helping people discover their strengths, abilities, and understand a deeper meaning of themselves. I love to help people through life transitions, difficult times, and provide support to those who need guidance.

What is something you wish people knew about therapy?

It takes strength asking for help. The first step is just walking through the door. It takes strength to admit to yourself that you don’t have all of the answers and that you want to invest time improving yourself. Therapy provides the tools to help clients use their personal strengths and learn how to live life one day at a time!

Why/how can people benefit from therapy?

There are endless benefits from therapy! Therapy gives clients the tools to improve communication skills, build confidence, explore the past, resolve conflict, increase self-awareness and emotional regulation, develop coping skills and strategies, build stronger relationships, and change negative thought patterns. Overall, therapy gives the client a better, deeper understanding of themselves so they can live a happier, authentic life.

What is something you’d like clients to know about you (or how you work)?

I strive to provide a safe, comfortable, non-judgmental space for clients. One of the most important aspects of therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. The trust, communication, and strength of the therapeutic relationship provides a foundation for therapy. I also like to use creative interventions during therapy, such as drawing, painting, listening to music, body movement, and mindfulness exercises. My priority is to discover what the client enjoys during therapy and assure they are comfortable while learning about themselves.

What does success in therapy look like to you?

Success in therapy can look different for each client. Whether it be improved self-esteem, confidence in decision making, a deeper understanding of themselves, healthier relationships, or an overall happier lifestyle, there is so much positive change than can happen!

What are your thoughts about the “stigma” of therapy?

The stigma of therapy is still present in our world today, but it has come a long way. Many people feel ashamed or hesitant to seek therapy services because of the stigma associated with asking for help. If you feel like you should be able to “handle your problems on your own terms” then that is exactly what therapy is! Asking for help is the first step in conquering life’s challenges. Therapy is what the client wants it to be; it is in invaluable investment in your emotional and mental health. It takes courage to put time and effort into helping yourself.
